As Christians, are we considered perfect?

Answer:

No, we are not perfect, just forgiven.

Jesus gave us the model of prayer when He instructed the disciples how to pray. Jesus did not say this was the way He needed to pray (since He was perfect), but the manner in which his followers should pray:

Matthew 6:9-13  After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

If we were perfect at the time of our salvation and coming to know Christ, why would Jesus add this to His teaching? It is because He knew that we would still fail at times and we needed to understand we needed His grace everyday and also to give that same grace to others.

Good question,
