What is the difference between speaking in tongues and a prayer language?

Answer:

There are two different types of speaking in tongues (One Spirit, two manifestations).

The first is our Heavenly prayer language that we all can receive when we are filled with the Baptism. This is a unique language and it is the Holy Spirit praying through us and interceding. I try to daily pray in this language because every time you do the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit is working in your life. I don’t know about you, but I sometimes need answers that are supernatural and miracles from above J  This is the language Paul speaks of and that he prays a lot like this…1 Corinthians 14:18  I thank my God, I speak with tongues more than ye all:

Actually, if you read 1 Corinthians chapter 14 it speaks of this prayer language quite a bit.

The other speaking in tongues is a special gift given to some (not all) who have the ability to give a message in tongues publicly in a church or other setting for the specific purpose of this being interpreted by another, or even themselves. This is similar to a prophetic word except prophecy is in a known language and having a message in tongues requires the gift of interpretation to be working also. 1 Cor. 12 speaks of this…1 Corinthians 12:10-11   To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
