What did Jesus say about the tithe today?

Answer:
Jesus did not specifically address tithing, but did so indirectly when he said in Mark 12:17Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s. And they marveled at him.

According to the Word in Malachi, the first tenth or tithe of what we have is to go to God with offerings above that as we are led. In fact, it is the only place in the Bible where we are specifically told to “test God” in this thing… Malachi 3:10 Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.

Actually the New Testament model of giving was even above and beyond the tithe. Many people gave all they had: Acts 2:44-47 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

The one place where we do specifically see how Jesus viewed this liberal giving was the woman with two mites. Even though it was very little value, it was all she had and Jesus commented that because of this she actually gave more than all the rest.

Luke 21:2-4 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in thither two mites. And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.

I hope this helped answer your question. Bottom line is give generously and with a joyful heart!
