Does God know each star by name, and do the stars implode, explode, die or go away? I know according to science stars die, some say that Isaiah 40:26 says different. Can you help me understand this?

Answer:
An excellent question! I cannot answer every question I receive, but being very interested in astronomy I definitely wanted to answer this!

Two things we know for sure, stars do explode and implode and is evidence by the Supernovas, etc. We also know that the Bible is infallible, so how do we reconcile this verse that says that not one faileth? Isaiah 40:26 Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.

I had to get out my Hebrew dictionary for this one and see where the word “faileth” came from. It is from a Hebrew word that is pronounced “aw-dar’” and it means to bring in line, to bring into rank, to put in position. So what Isaiah 40:26 actually tells us is that every star was created by God, named by Him, and that not one ever “faileth” (aw-dar) to be in the exact place it needs to be. It has nothing to do with failing as in ceasing to exist, it has everything to do with being in submission and complete compliance with a master plan with specific purpose.

Interesting enough, I read in a science digest a year or so ago that they have now discovered each star and cosmic object lets off a tone, and one particular star they studied in deep space let out a pitch that was 30 octaves below middle C. The science digest went on to say that this star had probably been in “perfect” pitch since it’s birth and that if we could hear with superhuman ears all the stars in the sky may be playing in perfect harmony one with another. I thought this was an interesting scientific observation by someone who was not necessarily a believer or without knowing what scripture said…Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God (angels) shouted for joy?

I believe that all the billions and billions of stars together might just make up a tremendous musical symphony that will accompany our eternal worship and shouts of joy! Perhaps when a star does explode or become a supernova it is as great cymbals crashing together as part of the master conductor’s beautiful composition. We know how much God loves music, would it surprise us that His plans included the Heavens that could hold perfect pitch for all eternity?
