Were any of the Apostles married besides Peter?

Answer:

I do not know of any Biblical proof of any of the 12 apostles being married other than Peter, although they may have been.

Some take this verse Matthew 27:56  Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses (john), and the mother of Zebedee’s children.

To mean that John was also married but it probably is referring to the fact Salome was the mother of James and John and also the mother of the other children by Zebedde, not that she was the wife and mother of John’s (the son of Zebedee) children.

Early church writings indicate all the early apostles (except John the beloved) were martyred and suffered much for the gospel. Perhaps that is why they were not married…to spare the families from persecution. Early church writings indicate Peter’s wife was crucified or martyred alongside of Peter, or perhaps shortly before his execution.
