When we are baptized in the Holy Spirit, we are called to use and perform Jesus gifts of the holy spirit because it is not ours, it is Jesus. Can these gifts be taken away if we do not use these gifts of the holy spirit?

Answer:

Very good question.

The answer is no, they may be inactive due to our own lack of faith or using them, but God will not take them away.

As it is written in Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance (recall).

I walked away from God for many years and it seemed as through the Gifts were not in use in my own life. The moment I turned back to God (some 10+ years ago) the calling and gifts were as certain as ever, perhaps even in a greater capacity.

I have even seen cases where gifts were in operation even though the person had personally backslidden. Again, it is because God’s love is so great that when He gives a gift it is for good.
