What does the bible say about body piercing or anything similiar?

Answer:
Leviticus 19:28 Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

In the Bible, cuttings, piercings, tattoos were often times used to mark the body in ways that were contrary to God’s laws. In fact, they often symbolized ownership – of slavery. This could be to another or even a foreign God.

Today, I know many Christians that have a piercing or even a tattoo. In fact, I recently visited a church that had a tattoo ministry (I guess they went and got Bible verses tattooed on their arms or something.

I do not want to judge – all I can say is that we are body, soul and spirit. The Bible tells us to live after the spirit and not the flesh, and that includes doing things that bring the focus on spiritual things and God. Anything that draws too much attention to the flesh our own bodies cannot be good. This also means dressing with modesty. I know many young Christian women that have no idea what the way they dress says to the young men in the church.

That is a good question, and I know that whether God loves piercings or hates them He still loves the person they are on. 🙂
