Can someone who is divorced be ordained in ministry?

Answer:

I have a good friend who was in a similar situation. It had been many years since his divorce, and it was before God had done many things in his life.

He stood before a congregation of critics who said this man should not be allowed to preach because many, many years ago he was married to another. It did not matter to them that 30+ years had passed.

My friend spoke to his critics and confessed that what they said was true. Then he added…the sad part is that if I had murdered my first wife and served a jail sentence for 20 years and been released from prison and repented of my crime you would have allowed me to again be married and even be a minister in this denomination. Is God so limited or my sin so great that there is no mercy or forgiveness in your hearts for a mistake that was made so many years ago?

To this day the denomination will still not ordain him but he became ordained through another denomination and is highly anointed of God in all he does and says. It has not hindered his ministry in any way, in fact it probably increased his outreach to other places who would gladly have him come and share.

It is unfortunate that many Pharisees still exist today, the good news is that you and your soon to be husband can still be approved by the very one who approved Jesus for ministry, the Father and the Holy Ghost. Jesus was never accepted by the temple leaders in His day, but it did not keep him from carrying out the greatest ministry ever!

Be blessed and enjoy the years the Lord grants you together. Tell everyone about His mercy and grace and about His precious blood.

Isaiah 61:1-3  The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To provide for them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
