Why did Jesus say, my God my God, why have you forsaken me?

Answer:
Here are the scriptures: Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Mark 15:34 And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Jesus has to become the sin of this world so that He could become the true and living sacrifice for all mankind. He took on our sins and grieves so that we would not have to carry them with us.

I believe at that moment in time (when Jesus cried out these words), it was the fulfillment of that precious promise to us. God the Father had to turn away from looking upon His dearly beloved Son as He became the sin of the world so that we might be free. That was the true pain on Calvary’s tree for Jesus, not the nails or the thorns. At that very moment, Jesus must have felt something none of us (as Believers) will ever know.

As Jesus completed His mission here on earth, He paid the great price we could not and reconciled us to His Father. Jesus, the perfect lamb, the perfect friend, the perfect Son. Is it no wonder that His Father has exalted the name of Jesus above every name:

Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
