Answer:
I believe Judas did love Christ at one time and was a follower who even performed miracles and saw many people come to God.
However, there was something deep inside of Judas that was not right and that he would not surrender which was exactly what the devil used as a foothold to get in…
John 12:3-7 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.
Judas’ heart was not right…he was not looking for the King of Heaven he was looking for a King here on earth and probably sold Jesus out to force His hand to deal with the Romans and the occupation at hand. That was not why Christ came, and when Judas saw what he had done was sorrowful but not repentant.
Peter also denied Christ in just as bad of a way as Judas did, but Peter wanted to get back with Christ, Judas just wanted away from Christ.
