I would like to know what is the unpardonable sin against the Holy Spirit and can you ever be forgiven from committing this transgression?

Answer:

First, let me tell you that anyone who ever wonders about this has not committed this sin because they would care less about it – anyone truly committing this repeated sin has rejected God and His works in such a degree that the Holy Spirit literally stops in convicting them of sin and they have no remorse or desire to ever find out anything about God.

Someone who did commit this would not even want to be forgiven of this because they do not believe God is who He claims to be – such was the case with some of the Pharisees in Christ’s day who literally had Him crucified knowing who He was and what He accomplished. Even the Roman guards recognized Christ as the Messiah upon His death and resurrection, but not the Pharisees. They paid people to be quiet about it so they could retain their power hold on the people.

Here is an answer to a similar question I answered recently that helps to explain it more:

I do not believe the Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is one specific sin but rather the intentional denial of the Spirit’s work and hardening of the heart until there really is nothing left that can reach you.

The only people that Jesus warned in the Bible about this sin were the Pharisees. They were the ones that should know better, and they (even when convinced Jesus was the Christ) still misled people and even described Jesus work of those of the devil. They were more concerned about their own position and power than that of God’s, even when they knowingly understood the implications.

Yes, I do think it applies today to those people who know good from evil and continually reject God’s message to the point they are so hardened nothing would reach them anymore. Where that point is, no one except God knows. I have met hardened criminals that repented in their last days, and I have met people who went to church all their lives and were so bitter they could not forgive anyone. In this case, I would be more worried about the second group that the first!

Mark 3:22-30  And the scribes which came down from Jerusalem said, He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of the devils casteth he out devils. And he called them unto him, and said unto them in parables, How can Satan cast out Satan? And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house. Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.
