Answer:
Good question.
Every pastor I ever talked to flat out said “no” because they do not have an eternal soul and spirit as man does. There is no where in the scripture to indicate they do.
With that said, I remember a child that asked a pastor one time the same question. The pastor said “No, your pets will not be in heaven, when animals die they simply cease to exist.” The little boy then said, “Then where does Jesus get the white horse He rides back on!”
Interestingly enough, I just came back from England and saw many of the tombs of the saints who died hundreds of years ago. Most of them are actually buried with or beside their pets because up until several hundred years ago people did generally accept pets went with them to Heaven.
Here is what I can tell you for sure. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
Whatever we can imagine about Heaven…it will be even better! For some of us it may just mean that special pet is there too. Who knows? We do know it is better than our wildest dreams.
Thanks,
Pastor Brad
