What does it mean that the Spirit gives birth to the Spirit, in John 3:6?

Answer:
The verse John 3:6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. is similar in meaning to…Romans 8:5 For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

To follow after the things of God is contrary to what the world says is important…doing things of the world does not lead to eternal life or true happiness. However, when we deny or own natural desires to strive to live in a way which would please God it brings on a whole new outlook and “new life” in God which is eternal.

We are all composed of body (flesh), soul (thought and emotions), and spirit (an awareness of God). When we accept Christ and seek to be led by the Holy Spirit the spirit being in us becomes awakened and we can rise above the cares of this world. Thus His Spirit gives birth and life to our Spirit being inside us.

Hope that helped and I didn’t confuse you more 🙂

God Bless,
