I believe it will either be pre-trib or mid-trib, I have seen very good arguments for both. It is really how you interpret several keys scriptures.
To me, it would not be surprising to see mid-trib, but that Believers would be taken out before the worst, that is when God begins to pour His wrath upon this earth. That, I believe, is definitely reserved for the unbelieving who are left and have rejected all forms of Godliness.
As for persecution and the other things you mention…it is happening in dozens of countries right now even as we write. There are persuctions in all the Muslim countries and so many others around the globe like China…so it isn’t a matter of if it will happen; it is happening!!!
I do pray that America will be spared some of this persecution…but sometimes you find that persecution actually strengthens your beliefs and convictions…. James 1:2-3 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience.
In ending…always live like the rapture will be pre-trib; that way you are ready for Jesus to come tonight without any warning. Always stand firm in your faith that is it were mid-trib you would not waver even under pressure. Short suffering here cannot be compared to an eternity in Heaven with Jesus!
